Title:                  Employment Law Associate

Hours:               Full-Time (1,800 Billable Hours)

Reports to:       Counseling Practice Group

Objective: NFC expects this position to be held by a highly motivated, detail-oriented attorney who excels in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that values top-quality work and positive contributions to the workplace.

Essential Functions:

Applicants must have 2-5 years of substantive employment law experience with a strong interest in providing advice to clients and working with the firm’s investigations teams.

Responsibilities are primarily focused on working with the Counseling Practice Group in servicing the group’s clients, which is dedicated to partnering on employment law matters with NFC’s private sector corporate clients in New Jersey, New York, and remote locations.   In addition, this attorney will be part of NFC’s investigations teams tasked with performing internal investigations and third party investigations on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Work shall include but not be limited to:

  • Research regarding a wide range of employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, FMLA/ADA issues, sick leave laws, leave of absence issues, RIFs, restrictive covenants and COVID-19 guidance and related laws
  • Assisting with advising clients on a wide variety of employment issues, including drafting comprehensive emails to clients and delivering advice via phone or virtual platforms
  • Document and policy preparation (e.g., Handbooks, Separation Agreements, Restrictive Covenant Agreements, Policies, etc.)
  • Assisting with the preparation of materials for client trainings on a wide variety of employment law issues
  • Conducting workplace and third party investigations
  • Preparing verbal and written investigation reports
  • Assisting with DOL Audits
  • Responding to attorney demand letters
  • Responding to agency (EEOC, NJDCR) Charges
  • Providing overflow assistance to other NFC practice groups, where needed

Skills Required:
